Jonathan Cook has over 25 years of experience in the investment and consumer industries.
Most recently he was the Deputy Head of Equity Research and Senior Equity Analyst covering the consumer sector at Citi Investment Management, Citigroup’s $80bn in-house fund manager for the Wealth channel. He moved there after a long period as the global consumer staples buyside analyst at State Street Global Advisors / G.E. Asset Management, a fundamentally driven institutional fund manager. Previously he worked in sell-side equity research at Morgan Stanely and RBS, covering European Beverages. Jonathan began his career in corporate centre and in-market roles at Diageo.
Jonathan is a CFA Charterholder and has also successfully completed the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. This course provided the foundation for the work he helped to lead at SSGA integrating ESG principles into the fundamental equity investment process.
Jonathan also completed the “Leadership in Professional Services” and “Executive Leadership” programmes at the Said Business School, Oxford. He has developed a bespoke leadership model for equity research based on the lessons learned on these courses.
A native of Northern Ireland, Jonathan graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Modern Languages (French & Spanish), which included spending a year in Madrid teaching English in a secondary school.
Jonathan is married to Louise and they live in South West London with their three children. In his spare time, he plays golf, enjoys coaching mini-rugby and he is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers.

Led an equity research team for Citigroup’s $80bn in-house fund manager in the Wealth channel. A senior buy-side equity analyst and investor role in two leading institutional asset managers. Specialised in research coverage of global consumer sector and managed a sector specific fund.
• Developed operational model for team of 10 sector specialist research analysts
• Line management responsibility, setting objectives, ensuring delivery of targets, supporting effective team collaboration
• Led the investment process across multiple consumer staples and discretionary subsectors, from top-down thematic strategy through to bottom-up fundamental stock selection

Direct personal experience of multi-functional team working in the consumer industry from corporate centre and inmarket roles at Diageo.
· Project managed exit strategy for $1bn contingent liability exposure, leading team of relationship banks, legal, tax and treasury teams
